English for Practical Communication Program – EPC

The English for Practical Communication Program, is a 720 hour, 12-level program offered on Saturdays or Sundays, geared to adult professionals interested in learning English to communicate fluently and with confidence in some scenarios of work life, and perform efficiently in common scenarios of everyday life.

The English for Practical Communication program has a communicative approach with non-traditional methodology, so that the students participate actively in the learning process, by using the language to perform in scenes of everyday work life that the teachers recreate in class.

The course allows students to practice and develop the four skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Pronunciation and grammar are studied comprehensively.

Academic English Program – AEP

The AEP is an intensive, nine-month course designed to prepare its participants for success. The program’s classes are conducted with students receiving 6 hours of class with highly-qualified instructors and participating in 1 hour of independent study time with classmates and tutors.

The AEP is content-based, emphasizing linguistic, academic and cultural competence. Instructional methodologies are highly eclectic and adhere to a notional-functional syllabus. Preparation for the TOEFL is included in the curriculum.

In addition to formal instruction, students participate in exciting extracurricular activities such as field trips, community service, guest lectures, and visits to college classes. Frequent use of updated multimedia programs, instruction on the application of the Internet in higher education, as well as speech and note-taking practice, further enhance the learning experience.

English for Professional Development Program – EPD

The English for Professional Development Program is a 14 level course designed for professionals of any industry who want to develop their language skills in the English language with the objective of becoming more competitive or are required to be bilingual at their workplace.

The program is designed so that as the student advances, he/she acquires skills, both linguistic and technical. The program’s content and discussions revolve around topics related to business; such as advertising, marketing, customer service, among others, all based on modern approaches and eclectic methodology used internationally.

After completing the course, students will be able to face most situation of daily life with fluency and confidence, and perform efficiently and competitively at work using English.

The course puts into practice the four skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Pronunciation and grammar are study comprehensively.

Frequent use of updated multimedia programs, instruction on the application of Internet in higher education, as well as speech and note-taking practice, further enhance the learning experience.

English as a Foreign Language Program – EFL

The English as a Foreign Language Program is communicative course designed for children, teenagers and adult students, for the most part native speakers of Spanish. It is content-based (notional-functional syllabus), integrative skills, and proficiency oriented.

Our main goal is to offer to our students a solid language option, in order to prepare them to face the reality of the new changing era of globalization. Thus, the students will become more effective and efficient in their jobs or school, congruent with the scope of their expectations. In addition, another goal is to provide the learners with the linguistic tools and skills necessary to perform well in different fields in order to become a factor of change in their region or country of origin.

Call Center Program

The purpose of this program is to prepare learners at the low-Intermediate level with the language and work skills needed to work in the BPO industry (Call Center) by reaching an intermediate to advanced proficiency level. The program aims at helping participants’ improve their communicative competence, increase fluidity with the language and practice American Standard pronunciation. The program connects the work competencies, language standards, and skills together so that the acquisition of new skills and know-hows go beyond the intermediate level. It also builds participants proficiency to reach the expected status and be able to be hired as call centers agents by BPO’s.

English Language Training (ELT)

The English Language Training Program is a teacher training course for native and non- native speakers of English, who need instruction in methodology, pedagogy, and teaching and learning philosophies to perform as English instructors for Keiser University International Language Institute programs or any other institution that offers English courses in Nicaragua.

Outcomes:

  1. The English teacher will draw from the essentials in terms of conceptual background, theory, formal instruction, classroom observations, and classroom practice.
  2. The instructors will teach English with solid language foundations, and prepare future students to face the challenges of using the language in life-like settings.
  3. The teachers will be prepared to provide English language learners with the linguistic tools and skills necessary to appropriately perform in different fields and become a factor of change in their communities.
